Faculty teaching conditions are student learning conditions!

JOB SECURITY

Higher education has an important role in our community and the industry is changing fast. Maintaining job security through a tenure-track for all full-time faculty is a must. The public needs to know that their community colleges will maintain an equitable, stable workforce that can provide quality education. And faculty need to know that we are a valued part of the future of our community colleges.

We will propose contract changes to protect our jobs from being eliminated by layoffs, technology, the relocation of our work, or other restructuring.

Fairness, Respect, and Dignity

Students and their families deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. So do the full-time faculty that make the community colleges work.

We will propose contract language to reduce harassment and address a lack of fairness in promotions, workload, discipline and other issues.

Our goal is to make Maryland community colleges a better place for faculty and students by increasing fairness, improving operations and boosting morale.

Affordable Healthcare

Professors who spend their careers serving students and the community deserve a retirement with dignity.

Academic Freedom & Shared Governance

We propose contract language that requires academic freedom and shared governance in order to provide the best education for our students.

Retirement Security

Professors who spend their careers serving students and the community deserve a retirement with dignity.

A voice for every uamd member

Every member will have a voice and a vote on the union contract. Working full-time faculty from the community colleges will serve on the Bargaining Committee and the Contract Action Team. Members will be updated about contract negotiations every step of the way.

ECONOMIC FAIRNESS

Maryland’s community colleges paid top administrators millions of dollars in total compensation last year. Growing economic inequality is bad for education, bad for public education, and bad for Maryland. We will propose contract language, so the Community College honors the hard work of all full-time with fair wages.

Quality Education

We will propose contract language to improve the experience of faculty and our students by addressing chronic overload. Maryland community colleges need enough full-time faculty and resources to provide the education and service that students and their families deserve.

We’re uniting to win fair union contracts that promote good jobs and quality education.
